Enzymes

Enzymes are an integral part of modern industry and medicine due to their properties such as stability and catalytic activity. Their use in various industries (e.g. food, agriculture, chemical, and pharmaceutical) is rapidly increasing due to the reduction of processing time, reduction of energy input, their positive impact on cost effectiveness and because of their non-toxic and eco-friendly characteristics.

We at ARTES develop “ready-to-transfer” cell lines and processes for enzymes suitable for large scale manufacturing at low cost-of-goods.

The yeast technology platform Hansenula polymorpha realizes m³ scales at extremely reduced manufacturing costs due to growth and enzyme production in fully synthetic media supplemented with nitrogen and carbon sources. These carbon sources can be derived from industrial waste streams (biodiesel waste, molasse, rape seed extract). Sustainability and cost savings are ideally combined in our innovative solutions!

In compliance with the Regulation No. 1831/2003 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 22 September 2003 on additives for use in animal nutrition, ARTES applies an antibiotic resistance-free technology platform for the production of GRAS-confirmed feed and food enzymes.

ARTES offers a range of enzyme-producing cell lines and processes for out-licensing and technology transfer. All listed cell lines are based on our safe and high yielding yeast expression systems Hansenula polymorpha or E. coli.
